Job summary

WSP is seeking a Full Time Roadway Inspector for the San Bernardino, California office. The role supports the Resident Engineer on Caltrans-type projects, performing construction inspection and engineering activities in accordance with project plans and standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• 5+ years post-education experience in construction inspection on Caltrans-type projects.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Advanced knowledge of construction inspection principles and field practices.
• Knowledge of Caltrans codes, regs, and record-keeping requirements.
• Ability to perform technical computations and interpret plans/specs.
• Strong written communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to lead inspection tasks and coordinate with subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Collect, compile, and analyze site data and plans for inspections.
• Perform inspections on projects of moderate to large scope.
• Provide technical guidance for proper inspection and construction.
• Act as consultant on work progress and problem resolution.
• Conduct initial checks and follow-up inspections during construction.
• Verify load calculations and interpretation of contract docs.
• Monitor phasing plans and contractor work for quality and compliance.
• Lead inspection staff when required and coordinate with clients.
