Job summary

PCL Industrial Construction Co. in Houston, TX seeks a Sr. Field Engineer to bridge design and execution on complex projects.

You will guide teams, perform takeoffs, manage subcontractors, and support commissioning with strong emphasis on safety, quality, and schedule adherence. Ideal candidates bring 4–7 years in construction operations, a construction management or engineering background, and proficiency with documentation control, MS Office, and Baseplate tools.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of experience in construction in an operational role preferred.
• Construction trade certification with equivalent experience, or post-secondary diploma or bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
• Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, HSE, quality and materials.
• Ability to apply engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges.
• Understanding of construction law, building codes, and ASME piping codes.

Responsibilities

• Performs quantity takeoffs and surveys to manage contract progress and reporting.
• Communicate with and review trade contractor work and provide day‑to‑day direction.
• Maintain contract with select subcontractors and manage some subcontract administration.
• Consult with designers when reviewing drawings and suggest value‑added or alternative construction methods.
• Supports the project team lead in monitoring the design team for timely response to submittals; supports commissioning as needed.
• Assist the project manager and superintendent in managing and reporting overall project performance per site HSE, cost, schedule and quality.
• Assist with change management and change order process, including pricing and scheduling impact.
• Assist with site inspections to resolve constructability issues and review functionality, AHJ requirements and code compliance.
• Participate in reviews of subcontractors’ submittals for compliance with scope and coordination.
• Maintain and perform project document control and procedures.
