PCL Industrial Construction Co. in Houston, Texas, is seeking a Project Engineer to support scheduling, subcontract coordination, and project documentation, ensuring progress is safe and efficient.

The role involves collaboration with project teams in the field, aiming to optimize construction performance and delivery. The ideal candidate has 8–10 years of construction operations experience, with strong knowledge of means and methods, contract administration, and HSE standards.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience in construction in an operational role preferred.
• Construction trade certification with equivalent experience, or post-secondary diploma or bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, HSE, quality, building materials, and standards as per discipline.
• Advanced knowledge of means and methods and construction sequences.
• Ability to apply advanced engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges.
• Advanced planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Consistently performs quantity takeoffs, surveys, reviews, and data input to manage progress and change management.
• Oversees trade contractor work and may provide day-to-day direction.
• Maintains complex subcontracted scopes and administers subcontracts and contracts.
• Maintains project document control and procedures (RFI, shop drawings, etc.).
• Consults with designers/engineers on drawings and suggests alternative methods or materials.
• Creates and issues tender packages and subcontracts on complex scopes and monitors progress.
• Completes overall project closeout including archives and warranty manuals.
• Manages change order process, pricing, negotiating, and assessment of cost/schedule impact.
• Works with project manager to monitor project performance on complex projects.
• Oversees inventory and expediting material orders.
• Conducts safety inspections and training and leads by example.
