Job summary

Redwood Materials seeks a highly experienced Staff Field Engineer, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), to serve as a senior technical authority for deployment, commissioning, operation, and lifecycle support of utility-scale and commercial systems. You will lead complex field trouble-shooting across HV electricals, PCS, BMS, and SCADA with extensive travel.

This full-time role demands autonomous engineering judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and strong focus on safety and reliability

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
8+ years in field engineering or advanced technical roles for BESS or high-voltage systems.
Strong troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, controls, and software interfaces.
Familiarity with electrical codes and grid interconnection requirements.
Ability to travel up to 75% and operate with independent engineering judgment.

Responsibilities

Serve as senior technical authority for BESS commissioning, operation, and reliability.
Lead advanced system-level troubleshooting across HV systems, PCS, BMS, and SCADA.
Diagnose complex failures and lead root-cause analyses with corrective actions.
Develop and standardize field engineering procedures and best practices.
Provide remote and on-site technical support during critical events.
Translate field experience into scalable improvements across teams.
