Job summary

Redwood Materials is hiring a Senior/Staff BESS Development Engineer to join an early team focused on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects at initiation and concept phases. You will translate ambiguous inputs into buildable scope, concept design, and permitting/interconnection paths, operating in a startup-like environment.

You will collaborate across BD, EPC engineers, and product teams to deliver concept layouts, cost bases, and technical exhibits attached to contracts, while driving

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, Civil or Electrical preferred or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in energy project development, design and construction with BESS or utility-scale solar.
• Familiarity with grid-scale energy storage technologies and BESS equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical interconnection requirements and utility-scale project execution.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate across BD, BESS Product Team and EPC engineers.
• Own internal/external EPC engineering resourcing and schedule.
• Support BD with technical scope, cost estimates, and contract exhibits.
• Work with product team on system architecture, configuration, and compliance.
• Engage civil, structural, electrical, controls, and fire engineering disciplines.
• Coordinate cost estimation and schedules with project controls.
• Document design basis and scope delineation for EPC contracts.
• Deliver feasibility studies and gap analyses for site development.
