Job summary

Atlas is seeking a senior Construction Inspector who can work independently in the field, represent Atlas with municipal clients and TxDOT, and mentor junior inspectors. This is a senior-level role requiring leadership across multiple sites and projects.

This role demands extensive TxDOT roadway/bridge/interchange experience, strong plan interpretation skills, and the ability to ensure safety and quality across assignments while traveling up to 75% of the time.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred (Bachelor's a plus).
• 10+ years of progressive experience as a construction inspector on TxDOT roadway, bridge, or interchange projects; municipal utility inspection experience a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret civil/structural plans, cross-sections, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports, field logs, and photographic documentation for owner and internal project records.
• Communicate inspection findings, nonconformances, and schedule-impacting issues to contractors, project managers, and TxDOT/municipal representatives.
• Identify, document, and track violations or deficiencies through to resolution, and ensure work meets applicable safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain current knowledge of TxDOT specifications, special provisions, and applicable regulations; perform special inspections where certified and required by project scope.
• Serve as lead inspector on multi-inspector crews, providing technical guidance and reviewing junior inspectors' documentation.
• Conduct inspections on TxDOT and municipal construction sites to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and special provisions.
