Job summary

Atlas is seeking a Construction Inspector to lead field inspections on TxDOT and municipal projects, ensuring compliance with plans and safety standards. This senior role requires independence in the field, coordination with TxDOT and municipal clients, and mentoring junior staff.

You will prepare detailed reports, manage documentation, and review certifications. The position involves travel and representation of Atlas on diverse project sites nationwide.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience as a construction inspector on TxDOT roadway, bridge, or interchange projects.
• Strong working knowledge of TxDOT Standard Specifications, special provisions, and Tex-series test procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret civil/structural plans, cross-sections, and specifications.
• Current certifications: ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I, TxAPA SB102 (Hot-Mix Asphalt), Special Inspector certification (e.g., 311T), OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety.
• Ability to travel 50–75% of the time.
• Prior experience as a lead or chief inspector overseeing a multi-inspector crew preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports, field logs, and photographic documentation for owner and internal project records.
• Communicate inspection findings, nonconformances, and schedule-impacting issues to contractors, project managers, and TxDOT/municipal representatives.
• Identify, document, and track violations or deficiencies through to resolution, ensuring work meets safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain current knowledge of TxDOT specs, special provisions, and applicable regulations; perform special inspections when certified.
• Serve as lead/chief inspector on multi-inspector crews, providing technical guidance and reviewing junior inspectors' documentation.
• Conduct inspections on TxDOT and municipal construction sites to verify compliance with plans, specs, and special provisions.
