Job summary

The City of Pasadena, TX is seeking an Inspector III to ensure compliance with the Municipal Code through field inspections, investigations of violations, and collaboration with a diverse community. The role requires proactive resolution of code violations and protecting private property rights while promoting voluntary compliance.

You will conduct inspections for substandard housing, abandoned vehicles, overgrown vegetation, and more; inform owners of violations, maintain records, and prepare

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred.
• Texas Code Enforcement Officer License or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Valid Texas driver's license with good driving record.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections across assigned areas to identify Municipal Code violations.
• Investigate violations, issue notices, and pursue compliance actions.
• Consult with property owners to explain required corrective actions for compliance.
• Interact with residents, respond to inquiries, and address concerns.
• Log, track, and investigate complaints; prepare documentation for enforcement actions.
• Maintain records of inspections, notices, and follow-up results.
• Prepare for and testify in court hearings or other legal actions as needed.
• Collaborate with city departments and community organizations to resolve issues.
• Engage the community in neighborhood clean-up efforts and self-help programs.
• Travel using city vehicle to inspection sites and between territories.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain licenses/certifications.
