Job summary

City of Pasadena is seeking an Inspector III to ensure compliance with the Municipal Code through field inspections and investigations. You will work with a bilingual community, resolve violations, and balance enforcement with private property rights.

The role requires initiative and collaboration with multiple city departments. Responsibilities include consultations with property owners, handling inquiries, logging complaints, and potentially testifying in court.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework preferred).
• Texas Code Enforcement Officer License, or ability to obtain Texas Code Enforcement Officer-In-Training License within 6 months of employment.
• Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record.
• Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections to identify violations of the Municipal Code.
• Inform property owners of violations and explain corrective actions.
• Respond to inquiries, complaints, and concerns related to code enforcement.
• Log, track, and investigate complaints; issue notices or letters as needed.
• Maintain records, reports, and violation notices; document actions taken.
• Prepare for and potentially testify in legal actions related to violations.
• Collaborate with other city departments and community organizations.
• Encourage community groups in neighborhood clean-up efforts.
• Travel using a City vehicle between inspection sites.
