Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Inspector to support our Transportation CEI team on highway construction projects across multiple locations. The role focuses on inspecting complex construction activities to confirm adherence to plans, specifications, and safety requirements.

You will read and interpret drawings, perform calculations, and document results while potentially mentoring junior inspectors. Travel up to 40% and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; certifications may be required by client/jurisdiction.
• Valid driver's license required.
• 12 years of related inspection experience; equivalent experience considered in lieu of a degree.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as project needs vary.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to ensure materials and processes meet plans, specs, and provisions.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under limited or direct supervision depending on knowledge for the assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
