Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Inspector to support our CEI team on transportation construction projects. The role involves inspecting roadway and bridge work, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications and special provisions, and coordinating field activities at project sites.

Applicants should have a HS diploma, relevant certifications, a valid driver’s license, and extensive experience in highway construction inspection. Travel to multiple project locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to verify materials and processes meet plans and specs.
• Use higher grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to knowledge level.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
