Job summary

RON SUNSHINE ASSOCIATES LLC seeks a Senior Field Commissioning Engineer to lead the readiness, field deployments, and diagnostics of complex automation systems in a high-growth environment. You will coordinate on-site commissioning, calibrate multi-axis robotics, and troubleshoot PLCs across the footprint, ensuring successful customer sign-off.

The role requires 5+ years in field automation, a degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Robotics Engineering, and willingness to travel up to 80%.

Qualifications

• 5+ years field experience in commissioning and robotics integration.
• Proficient in troubleshooting PLCs and controls (Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal).
• Ability to read electrical prints and mechanical drawings.
• Willingness to travel 50–80% across North America and select international destinations.
• Residence near Greater Milwaukee; US citizen or green card holder.

Responsibilities

• Lead equipment readiness: direct internal commissioning, live-wire debug, and I/O validation before shop release.
• Robotic & cell calibration: validate multi-axis robots, perform electrical/mechanical calibrations, setups, EOAT checks.
• Hands-on diagnostics: troubleshoot PLC logic, servo drives, vision systems, pneumatics, safety interlocks.
• Lead onsite field deployments: install equipment at client facilities and train customer personnel.
• Cross-functional interface: collaborate with mechanical design, project management, and shop teams to isolate issues.
• Maintain detailed field progress logs and track open issues for stakeholders.
