Job summary

RON SUNSHINE ASSOCIATES LLC seeks a Lead Field Automation Specialist to service and program electro-mechanical systems in the Johnson Creek, WI region. The role combines field work with shop-based system design, providing autonomy and a company vehicle for on-site projects.

Applicants should have 5+ years in electro-mechanical maintenance and 2+ years programming PLC/HMI across multiple platforms. A valid driver’s license and residency within a 45-minute drive are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in electro-mechanical industrial maintenance or automation environments.
• 2+ years hands-on multi-platform PLC/HMI programming experience.
• High-level panel wiring, schematics, power distribution, motor controls, and diagnostics.
• Solid understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic pumps, valves, cylinders, and power transmission.
• Open to candidates without a diploma if hands-on experience; AS degree preferred.
• Must reside within 45-minute drive of Johnson Creek, WI and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead field maintenance and commissioning across Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois using a company vehicle.
• Design and program control systems across multiple PLC/HMI platforms from scratch.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical/control systems on-site, including VFDs and safety interlocks.
• Maintain fluid power and mechanical systems across diverse industrial machinery and lines.
• Install, commission, and retrofit automation hardware including panels, light curtains, safety controllers, and cobot/robotic integrations.
• Provide clear client technical support and on-site guidance to reduce downtime.
