Job summary

Covaris, a PerkinElmer company, is seeking an experienced Senior Field Applications Scientist (FAS), preferably based in Texas, to lead customer training, pre-sales technical engagements, and advanced troubleshooting across our sample preparation workflows. You will interact with customers, KOLs, and the Sales team, delivering training and product demonstrations while expanding commercial opportunities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related life sciences.
• 2–3+ years of Field Applications Scientist customer-facing industry experience.
• 3–5 years hands-on lab experience in molecular biology workflows.
• NGS, Proteomics, Genomics knowledge and DNA/RNA/Protein prep workflows.
• Experience with NGS library prep and biomolecule extraction desirable.
• Exposure to DNA analysis tools and bioinformatics workflows preferred.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to troubleshoot workflows and communicate recommendations.
• Travel up to 75% to support sales and customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead post-sales customer training and technical education through classroom instruction and hands-on sessions.
• Plan, lead, and execute customer product demonstrations to support commercial goals.
• Partner with Sales Territory Managers as a senior scientific expert for customers and KOLs.
• Represent Covaris at trade shows and conferences with demonstrations and discussions.
• Serve as technical contact via Salesforce; troubleshoot assays, workflows, and software.
• Develop training materials, protocols, and technical resources for internal and external customers.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to translate feedback into actionable insights.
• Mentor team members to share technical knowledge and uplift customer-facing skills.
