Job summary

TDS Telecom in Bend, Oregon is seeking a Senior Fiber Construction Technician to oversee the construction and maintenance of PON/fiber network facilities. The role involves operating trenchers, backhoes, plows, and coordinating with internal and external teams to keep projects on schedule.

You will read plans, manage budgets, ensure safety protocols, perform field tests, and train team members. Occasional travel and a valid CDL may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction equipment operation with trenchers, backhoes, end loaders, plows or military service equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience leading individuals or teams through mentorship or project management.
• Valid driver's license and eligibility for DOT requirements.
• Ability to obtain Class A CDL; in-house training available.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction and maintenance of fiber outside plant facilities and reads construction plans.
• Coordinate with supervisor and resources to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Ensure safety protocols are enforced and perform quality control inspections.
• Engage municipalities, utilities, suppliers, contractors, and property owners to coordinate tasks.
