Job summary

Noblis is seeking a highly technical Security Engineer to support the FAA TIS Group. This role focuses on architecture-level security across networks, with emphasis on applying federal standards and guiding design decisions.

The candidate will assess configurations, lead IPv4/IPv6 transitions, and integrate Zero Trust and SDN strategies while collaborating with engineers, program managers, and cybersecurity stakeholders to support ATO packages and continuous monitoring.

Qualifications

• Experience working on federal programs, preferably FAA or transportation sector.
• Hands-on network engineering or architecture with boundary protection design, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and load balancing.
• Knowledge of IPv4/IPv6 and WAN/LAN environments.
• Familiarity with NIST RMF, FISMA, and NIST SP 800-53 rev 5.
• Ability to evaluate security concepts for large, safety-critical systems like NAS.
• Experience advising on defense-in-depth architectures, Zero Trust and SD-WAN.
• Collaboration with System Engineers, Program Managers, and cybersecurity stakeholders to support ATO packages.
• Ability to develop system security plans, risk assessments, and related documentation.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing and guiding network architecture to ensure cybersecurity is built-in from the ground up.
• Reviewing system configurations, firewall rules, and network paths to align with FAA Orders and NIST standards.
• Leading transitions from IPv4 to IPv6 and microwave refreshes from a cybersecurity perspective.
• Integrating Zero Trust, SDN, and defense-in-depth strategies into enterprise solutions.
• Acting as a technical bridge between FAA cyber stakeholders and infrastructure providers.
• Evaluating vendor architectures and providing expert recommendations based on federal policy and security principles.
