Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a senior engineer to serve as the technical liaison between federal design and construction teams and contractors on nationwide projects.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, 5+ years of relevant experience, and willingness to travel domestically (with overseas travel possible). Strong knowledge of design review, cost estimating, scheduling, and FAR/DFARS is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical liaison between federal government client design branch, construction branch, and contractors.
• Review design submittals, shop drawings, specifications, RFIs, and technical reports for compliance with Federal and client standards.
• Apply engineering principles across planning, investigation, design review, construction administration, and assessment of engineering procedures, structures, systems, and tools.
• Monitors progress and prepares technical or project status reports.
• Provide engineering judgment for field modifications, non-conformance issues, value engineering proposals, and constructability reviews.
• Complies with guidelines and regulations including permitting, safety, environmental requirements, etc., and delivers technical files and other documentation.
• Assist in the development of cost estimates and supporting analysis with government cost estimators and contracting officers.
• Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress reviews, and project closeout/punchlist activities.
• Conduct or assist in quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Develops, trains, mentors junior engineering staff while guiding technical direction and best practices.
• Develop and maintain client relationships through responsive communication and strong technical support.
• Performs other duties as required.
