Job summary

APTIM is seeking a Senior Construction Estimator to develop accurate and competitive estimates for construction and environmental projects, with emphasis on federal clients (DoD/DOE, FEMA). You will lead estimation efforts, collaborate with BD, engineering, procurement, and proposal teams, and drive winning pricing strategies across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
• 5–10 years in construction/environment with federal projects.
• 5–7 years estimating/preconstruction experience.
• Experience supporting DoD/DOE/FEMA/USACE/GSA projects.
• Experience in bottom-up, conceptual, ROM and parametric estimates.
• Proficient with estimating software: InEight, Sage, RSMeans.
• Advanced Excel with cost models and data analysis.
• Knowledge of contracts, subcontracts, scheduling, procurement, and change orders.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in fast-paced proposals.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of construction cost estimates from conceptual planning to final proposals.
• Prepare estimates using limited information; collaborate with SMEs.
• Develop ROM, parametric, and bottom-up estimates for various project types.
• Lead major proposal estimating efforts with cross-functional teams.
• Incorporate subcontractor/vendor quotations into estimates.
• Perform constructability reviews and identify risks and cost drivers.
• Develop pricing strategies, labor rates, and cost allocations.
• Mentor team members on estimating best practices.
• Support business development and capture teams on proposals.
• Improve estimating processes, tools, and standardized models.
• Present assumptions, methodologies, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
• Manage multiple estimates to meet aggressive schedules.
