Job summary

American Modern Insurance Group, Inc., a Munich Re company, is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead end-to-end pricing model development for personal lines. You will own modeling strategy, collaborate with analytics, actuarial, and product teams, and mentor junior data scientists in a hybrid environment at multiple U.S.

locations. The role emphasizes strong technical skills in R/Python, GLMs/GBMs, and ML concepts, with exposure to Databricks and agile workflows.

Qualifications

• FCAS knowledge with actuarial pricing in insurance.
• Proficiency in R and Python for modeling.
• Deep understanding of GLMs and GBMs.
• Familiar with AI/ML concepts, NLP and DL.
• Experience with Databricks or similar big data platforms.
• Strong testing, validation, and model governance.
• 6+ years in data science/predictive analytics in insurance or 8+ in other industries.

Responsibilities

• Lead pricing model strategy for a subset of products.
• Develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain predictive models.
• Mentor junior data scientists.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and regulators on rate filings.
• Own regulatory filings and objections.
• Communicate results to internal/external customers.
• Create modeling best practices and share with team.
• Schedule and prioritize workload.
