American Modern Insurance Group, Inc., a Munich Re company, seeks a Principal Data Scientist to lead end-to-end pricing model development for personal lines. You will guide predictive analytics, oversee model deployment and monitoring, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• FCAS required.
• 6+ years of data science/predictive analytics experience in insurance or 8+ years in another industry.
• Experience with R and Python.
• Deep understanding of GLMs and GBMs.
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts including supervised/unsupervised learning, DL, NLP.
• Experience with big data platforms (Databricks) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
• Experience in agile teams (Scrum/Kanban).
• Strong commitment to model testing, validation, and continuous improvement.
• Proven project management and prioritization experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead pricing model strategy for a subset of products.
• Develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain predictive models.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across teams.
• Manage filing schedules for aligned products.
• Perform predictive analytics analyses and modeling with guidance on complex projects.
• Present results to internal/external customers and management.
• Mentor junior data scientists and analysts.
• Document assumptions, results, and alternatives; support rate filings or modeling discussions.
