Job summary

Mid-States Design & Engineering (MDE), the design and engineering division of Mid-States Companies, seeks a Senior Designer to lead facility layouts for grain handling, milling, and bulk-handling plants in a Nevada, Iowa-based office with travel up to 15%.

You will act as technical authority, review GA work, and ensure code compliance while developing design standards and mentoring the design team to advance professional growth and project success.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher required.
• 6+ years of facility, plant, or site design experience in grain, bulk handling, or industrial settings.
• Proficiency in Revit.
• Strong layout, planning, and equipment arrangement judgment across multiple facility types.
• Experience mentoring designers and owning scope, schedule, and budget on projects.
• Willing to travel up to 15% to customer sites, project sites, and partner engineering offices.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex facility layout across grain handling and storage, milling, feed mill, and related plants.
• Serve as the technical authority reviewing GA work before EO.R. or customer.
• Own facility design standards, conventions, and checklists.
• Develop the design team through mentoring and internal training.
• Own project scope, schedule, and budget and manage RFIs and submittals.
