Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a skilled facilities technician to perform renovation and restoration work on university facilities. You will modify and install drywall, doors, windows, ceilings and flooring, inspect fire-rated walls, and update drawings as needed.

You’ll lead a team of technicians, mentor staff, coordinate work orders, and ensure safety practices while delivering high levels of customer service to campus customers and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Minimum: high school diploma or GED plus 3 years’ experience in general construction, carpentry, fire-stopping, or painting.
• Probationary period includes: OSHA 30-hour, building design standards knowledge, and understanding of FOD Design and Construction project process.
• Probationary period may require demonstrated competence in rough carpentry, finishing, firestopping or flooring.

Responsibilities

• Perform renovation and restoration tasks to maintain interior and exterior aesthetics.
• Modify and install drywall, doors, windows, ceilings and flooring; inspect and repair fire rated walls and doors.
• Lead facilities technicians, mentor staff, and coordinate work orders in supervisor’s absence.
