Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Maintenance Specialist III at Terrell State Hospital to perform complex building maintenance across trades. You will inspect, repair, and modernize building systems while maintaining safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• Vocational training in one or more trades (electrical, plumbing, masonry, mechanical equipment, locksmithing, painting, motor vehicle maintenance, HVAC, carpentry, welding, electronic cabling).
• Minimum two years’ experience in construction, maintenance, or equipment/vehicle repair; two years in at least one trade and six months in at least two other trades.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, adjustments, maintenance and repairs on building systems (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting).
• Maintain records and work orders; use hand tools and equipment.
• Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, forklifts) as needed and provide guidance to others.
