Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to assist with coordination and supervision of shop personnel performing trade-related and maintenance work for district facilities. You will review work orders, supervise contractors, manage materials, ensure safety, and help develop annual budgets.

A high school diploma is required, a bachelor's preferred, and significant supervisory experience is expected; Colorado driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Eight or more years journeyman or equivalent in a related field preferred.
• Minimum three years supervisory experience.
• Experience with cost estimating blueprint reading, specs, business, public and customer relations, supervision and personnel management.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), CMMS and EMPAC.
• Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.
• Must hold and maintain applicable licensure/certification as required; valid Colorado Driver’s License, insurance, and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders and prioritize/schedule maintenance work.
• Supervise and inspect work by vendors and contractors per DPS standards.
• Monitor materials, equipment, and costs; take corrective action as needed.
• Define specs for contract work and ensure compliance with District standards.
• Coordinate with other departments and shops on joint projects.
• Monitor safety and prevent injuries; maintain safe working environment.
• Assist in annual budget development and approval processes; review invoices.
• Provide on-the-job training and performance feedback to staff.
• Respond to emergencies 24/7 and coordinate District response.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
