Job summary

Arup’s West + LATAM Building Envelopes and Facade team seeks a Senior Facades Engineer in Los Angeles to lead design and technical delivery across projects. You will mentor staff, manage budgets, and coordinate with architects and clients to develop performance-based facade solutions.

Ideal candidates have 6–7 years of relevant experience, a degree in Architecture or Engineering (masters preferred), and strong CAD/3-D modeling skills. Knowledge of codes and building envelope systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–7 years of relevant experience in façade engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering; Masters preferred.
• Knowledge of exterior wall, roofing, waterproofing and building envelope systems.
• Ability to perform structural and envelope physics analyses.
• Experience with 3-D modeling and 2-D CAD.
• Strong analytical, research and written/verbal communication skills.
• US cladding industry experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design workshops with architects and stakeholders.
• Develop façade and building envelope designs supporting architectural intent.
• Prepare preliminary engineering calculations for façade design.
• Produce sketches, specifications, drawings and reports for tender documentation.
• Review submittals for contract compliance and standards.
• Witness performance testing and prepare technical reports.
• Coordinate factory visits and site observations.
• Mentor and supervise junior team members.
• Manage project teams to meet timelines and budgets.
• Communicate with clients to understand needs and maintain dialogue.
