Job summary

Arup in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Facades Engineer to join our Building Envelopes and Facades team, delivering innovative façade solutions for US West and global projects. The role combines technical leadership, design development, and mentoring of junior staff, with collaboration with world‑renowned architects and clients to translate architectural intent into robust building envelopes.

A Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering and 6–7 years of experience are expected, Masters

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering; Master's preferred.
6–7 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of architectural design, building science fundamentals, building materials, codes and construction methods.
Experience with exterior wall, roofing and building envelope systems.
Proficiency with 3D modeling and 2D CAD.

Responsibilities

Lead design workshops with architects and professionals to explore cladding solutions.
Develop façade and building envelope designs with other disciplines.
Produce preliminary engineering calculations for façade design.
Create sketches to convey envelope concepts for tender packages.
Prepare specifications, drawings, and reports for tender documents.
Review submittals for compliance with documents and standards.
Witness performance testing and prepare technical reports.
Conduct site visits and prepare related reports.
Supervise and coordinate work of team members.
Manage project teams to meet timelines and budgets.
Quality assurance reviews of designs and documents.
Mentor junior team members and support scopes of work and budgets.
