Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking an experienced professional to lead building envelope design and field activities in Los Angeles. You will review design documents, manage field testing, and coordinate with architects, contractors, and consultants on challenging projects.

This role requires 8+ years of envelope experience, strong project management, and travel. Stantec offers a hybrid office/home setup with opportunities to grow leadership and technical skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in assessing, detailing, testing and/or constructing building envelope systems.
• Highschool Diploma is required.

Responsibilities

• Review design documents, shop drawings, and trade submittals prepared by third parties for conformance with good building practice with respect to water intrusion, air leakage, vapor diffusion, thermal performance and differential movement.
• Undertake field review of both new construction and rehabilitation projects to confirm that the construction of the building envelope assemblies is proceeding per approved mock-ups and design document
• Prepare site visit reports and use this database to generate Action Lists of outstanding deficiencies and track their resolution
• Undertake field testing of selected elements of building envelope assemblies to confirm compliance with specified performance standards (primarily water infiltration and air leakage) and prepare reports outlining the results of these tests
• Interface with architects, general contractors and sub-trades
• Direct Building Envelope design and construction document development
• Perform forensic analysis of building envelope failures
• Conduct presentations to competing interests including working with legal professionals, contractors and consultants
• Direct field work associated with the assessment of existing buildings and the preparation of building envelope assessment reports
