Job summary

Cooley LLP is seeking an Associate Director of External Communications for Litigation to join the Communications team in Boston. This role leads proactive media relations and shapes external messaging for the litigation department and firm, to advance reputation and market position.

You will supervise a team, collaborate with practice leadership, and guide crisis communications while ensuring alignment with business priorities and industry developments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in communications or public relations with leadership experience.
• 4+ years managing teams, at senior level preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of communications professionals and agencies.
• Develop strategies to support business priorities and enhance reputation.
• Oversee awards program and key submissions.
• Write and edit press releases, pitches, talking points and statements.
• Advise leaders on media strategy and crisis communications.
