Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Laboratory Support Technologist to join the Experimental Solid Mechanics Department. You will perform mechanical testing, set up equipment, maintain labs, and support data generation for material models and diagnostics.

You will collaborate with engineers to analyze results, manage documentation, and support cross-functional research addressing national security problems. Onsite work is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years relevant experience in mechanics of materials.
• Proficiency with Excel, Matlab and/or Python for calculations and data analysis.
• Experience with Chemical Inventory System and/or waste management.

Responsibilities

• Perform experimental mechanics testing on quasi-static or high-strain-rate load frames to characterize materials.
• Set up, program, and troubleshoot test equipment.
• Support lab maintenance and calibration activities.
• Organize test data and prepare test documentation.
• Support research in mechanical characterization in various environments and materials.
• Work with engineers to design, execute, analyze and communicate results to customers.
