Job summary

Selective Insurance seeks an Executive Trial Attorney for its Wayne, PA, Marlton, NJ or Roseland, NJ offices. Requires NJ/PA workers' compensation experience and proven leadership in complex litigation. Candidate will oversee trial teams, handle high-stakes cases and advise the claims department on defense strategies.

The role demands substantial federal/state court experience, strong research, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Travel to court and meetings is expected.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited law school required and Bar admission in NJ or PA.
• Workers' compensation experience in NJ and PA required.
• At least 15 years of legal experience in one or both jurisdictions required.
• Trial of at least 15 matters to conclusion and appellate experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the work of assigned Trial Attorneys and provides supervisory guidance to support their activities.
• Prepares and tries complex, high exposure cases to conclusion before judges (possibly in multiple jurisdictions).
• Analyzes complex legal and factual issues, conducts research, and develops defense strategies for the Insured.
• Independently represents Selective insureds in all phases of litigation in courts of the relevant jurisdiction.
• Travels to depositions, court appearances, and client meetings; travel represents ~20% of time.
