Job summary

Redpath is seeking a Chief Estimator to lead the estimating group, supervise activities, and assist the Manager, Project Services in developing project estimates, budgets and bid proposals for underground mining projects.

The role requiring 10+ years of related experience, a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management or business, and strong skills in MS Office, MS Projects or Primavera. Travel to sites and effective collaboration across teams are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of post-graduate field and/or office based project accounting, estimating or controls experience related to underground construction projects or mining.
• Experience with project management, contracts, reporting and data manipulation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with management and clients.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, designs, specifications, and tender documents to prepare schedules, cost estimates and bid documents.
• Supervise activities and conduct reviews.
• Assist in soliciting quotations from vendors and subcontractors; consult with vendors and specialists.
• Involvement in performance capabilities and adjustments to reflect historical performance.
• Interface with others to obtain contributions and manage information.
• Maintain estimating standards and use estimating/scheduling software.
• Prepare tenders in accordance with bidding processes and manage bid proposals.
• Provide clear proposal write-ups and assist the Proposal Coordinator with deliverables.
• Support project management to ensure continuity between tender, construction and project completion.
• Mentor less experienced estimators and supervise staff.
