Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced estimator to support preconstruction activities in the Philadelphia area. You will assist leads in all estimating functions, perform quantity take-offs, and coordinate with trade partners for pricing and bids.

The role requires strong knowledge of contract documents, extensive estimating experience, and proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office. Travel and site assessments may be involved as part of the launch process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction or similar.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in project engineering, field supervision or purchasing.
• Strong reading of contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
• Extensive knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Preconstruction Manager in estimating functions throughout preconstruction phase launch process.
• Coordinate trade partner bid lists with procurement for budget pricing and bidding.
• Lead review meetings with owner, architect, and engineer related to Preconstruction phase.
• Prepare comparison analyses and clearly explain variances to project stakeholders.
• Review design documents for completeness and request information to provide complete estimates.
• Visit project sites to evaluate conditions and capture scope not in design documents.
• Support setup of estimate, schedule and responsibility matrix.
• Perform quantity take-off, analysis, and studies for assigned trades and building systems.
• Provide pricing for value engineering, alternates, options, and special studies.
• Utilize BIM for quantity take-off and visualization to support estimate preparation.
• Develop trade partner bid forms and ensure pricing completeness.
