Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced estimator to support preconstruction efforts in New Jersey. The role focuses on value engineering, budget controls, and GMP preparation with BIM-enabled take-offs and strong collaboration with owners, architects, and engineers.

You will lead bid coordination, analyze design documents, and manage input from trade partners while ensuring accurate, data-driven estimates throughout the launch phase. Travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field with 8+ years of experience.
• Experience in project engineering, field supervision or purchasing.
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems and trade practices.
• Ability to read contract documents, drawings, specs, scope and schedule.
• Extensive knowledge of estimating documents and quantitative/qualitative analysis.
• Project management skills to handle competing demands and deadlines.
• Supervisory or management experience and strong communication.
• Willingness to travel for project sites.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Preconstruction teams in estimating during the launch process.
• Coordinate trade partner bid lists with procurement for pricing.
• Lead review meetings with owner, architect, and engineer for Preconstruction.
• Prepare comparisons to prior estimates and explain variances clearly.
• Manage design document distribution for budgeting and bidding input.
• Review designs for completeness and request necessary information.
• Visit sites to capture conditions and scope gaps.
• Support setup of estimate schedules and responsibility matrices.
• Perform quantity take-offs, estimates, and studies for trades.
• Provide pricing for value engineering, alternates, options, and studies.
• Utilize BIM for take-off and visualization to support estimates.
• Prepare bid forms and recording sheets; assess trade input and gaps.
• Ensure pricing accuracy within estimates and GMPs with current data.
• Participate in estimate reviews with internal stakeholders.
• Lead coordination of operational input during estimating and GMP.
• Develop or support GMP documents for owner submission.
