Job summary

Turner Construction Company seeks an Experienced Estimator to support the Preconstruction team in the early launch phase, performing quantity take-offs, cost analyses, and coordination with trade partners. The role emphasizes value engineering, GMP readiness, and accurate cost modeling.

Travel and on-site reviews are required; strong communication and proficiency with BIM and estimating software are essential. Collaboration with owners, architects, and engineers is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Construction Management or equivalent with 8+ years of experience.
• Experience in project engineering, field supervision or purchasing.
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, and trade practices.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
• Extensive knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide quantitative analysis.
• Conceptual ability and quick understanding of owner/architect requirements.
• Project management of competing demands and meeting deadlines.
• Familiar with procurement and operations departments.
• supervisory or management experience.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and estimating software.
• Physically able to travel and perform site visits.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Preconstruction Manager in estimating during the preconstruction phase launch.
• Coordinate trade partner bid lists with procurement for budget pricing and bidding.
• Lead review meetings with owner, architect, and engineer for the preconstruction phase.
• Prepare comparison analyses and explain variances to stakeholders.
• Manage distribution of design documents for budgeting and bidding; ensure trade input.
• Review design documents for completeness and request information as needed.
• Visit project sites to evaluate conditions and capture scope not included in designs.
• Support setup of estimate, schedule, and responsibility matrix.
• Perform quantity take-off, analysis, estimate and studies for trades and systems.
• Provide pricing for value engineering, alternates, options, and special studies.
• Use BIM for take-off and visualization to support estimates.
• Prepare bid proposal forms and bid recording sheets; evaluate bids and identify gaps.
• Ensure pricing accuracy within estimates or GMP with up-to-date data.
• Participate in estimate reviews with internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate operational input during estimating, bidding, and GMP processes.
• Develop or support GMP documents for owner submission.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance feedback processes.
