Job summary

Layton Construction invites a Senior Estimator to join our Los Angeles team. The role focuses on managing and assisting in comprehensive estimates with cost accuracy and clear communication to Owners, coordinating with preconstruction teams.

The Senior Estimator will prepare bids, read contract docs, perform quantity take-offs, and lead value-engineering discussions while maintaining Layton's standards of integrity and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction field or equivalent education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in estimating commercial construction projects, demonstrating competence in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
• Knowledge of all construction systems and disciplines, including mechanical and electrical, to complete comprehensive cost estimates.
• Experience in estimating at all design stages: conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents.
• Proficient with Target Value Design and widely used estimating software (Destini Estimator, BlueBeam, Assemble).

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates and supplementary information for potential projects.
• Reads contract documents and offers value-engineering and life-cycle cost options.
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes, prices, and analyzes information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers; maintains contact lists.
• Attends Owner meetings during estimate development.
• Prepares detailed schedules for proposed projects.
• Initiates special projects related to estimating.
