Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead cost estimating for large-scale building projects within HDR's Building Engineering Services Group. The role involves generating capital and services estimates, data analysis, and preparing basis documents for proposals and contracts, across multiple disciplines.

You will provide technical direction, develop unit rates, discuss cost with stakeholders, and support risk and contingency efforts while leveraging tools like Sage, Timberline, Bluebeam, Revit,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or Construction Science
• Minimum of 10 years' related experience
• Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office software
• Advanced understanding of construction estimating concepts, scheduling and risk
• Intermediate Management fundamentals
• Able to lead small project estimates
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Active participant of our employee-owned culture

Responsibilities

• Perform general or discipline cost estimating generating capital cost and/or services estimates
• Support estimate reporting and reviews
• Provide technical direction to assigned personnel
• Execute multiple tasks within defined parameters
• Prepare services and capital cost estimates in specialized discipline areas
• Prepare cost/schedule products for proposals or contract negotiations
• Provide input on level of effort required through coordination with functions/vendors
• Perform quantity takeoffs from design drawings for multidiscipline sections
• Prepare pricing for labor and direct costs
• Develop unit rates for discipline items
• Assist in developing conceptual quantities
• Prepare basis and assumption documentation
• Calculate fee based on established model
• Quantify and spread escalation based on project schedule
• Develop and perform cash flow analysis and time value of money
• Generate payment schedules
• Support risk analysis and contingency
• Assist in staffing and pricing data for disciplines
• Perform data analysis and identify problems
• Identify data sources and techniques
• Prepare estimate summaries for reviews
• Participate in estimate reviews and presentations
• Support training activities
• Perform other duties as needed
