Job summary

William Charles Construction is seeking a Chief Estimator to lead heavy civil cost estimation for public and private sector projects. Based in Rockford, IL or Indianapolis, IN, you will own complex bid preparation, manage a team, and coordinate with cost control and operations.

The role requires a civil engineering or construction management background with 10–15 years in heavy civil estimation, including earthwork and bridge work. Travel to Rockford, Indianapolis or Springfield is expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to manage estimating team on large pursuits and provide estimate oversight.
• Pricing strategy planning and execution for bids.
• Excellent attention to detail and highly organized.
• Self-starter with ability to prioritize and schedule efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee estimating team and assign project bids.
• Lead self-perform preparation and ownership of estimates.
• Research subcontractors and suppliers to ensure coverage.
• Post-bid budget creation and ERP coordination for pursuits.
• Lead preconstruction meetings and bid reviews.
• Collaborate with operations and cost control for project handoff.
