William Charles Construction, a MasTec company, is seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead large-scale heavy civil, highways and roadways bids from our Rockford IL or Indianapolis IN offices.

You will own the full estimating process, coordinate with cost control, manage bid submittals, contract with subs, and mentor the estimating team as part of a fast-paced, safety‑driven organization committed to doing it right the first time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management.
• 10–15 years of heavy civil estimating experience.
• Experience with DOT and municipal bids (INDOT/IDOT) and private sitework.
• Ability to lead estimating teams and manage bid close.

Responsibilities

• Oversee estimating team, assign projects, review bids and risks.
• Own self-perform and subcontractor research to cover scope.
• Coordinate with cost control and ERP interfaces.
• Lead preconstruction meetings and bid reviews.
• Mentor others and maintain strong client relationships.
