Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Estimator to drive capital cost estimates across disciplines for complex projects within HDR's Building Engineering Services Group. You’ll prepare cost/service estimates, analyze data, support reports, and guide assigned staff to deliver accurate pricing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Construction Science Engineering or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 10 years' related experience.
• Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office software.
• Advanced understanding of construction estimating concepts, construction scheduling and elements associated with Risk.
• Intermediate Management fundamentals.
• Able to lead small project estimates.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
• Sponsorship (visa) for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

Responsibilities

• Generate general or discipline cost estimates and analyze data to identify problems and recommendations.
• Support estimate reporting and reviews.
• Provide technical direction to assigned personnel.
• Execute multiple tasks within broadly defined parameters.
• Prepare services, distributable, contractor indirect and/or capital cost estimates in specialized discipline areas.
• Prepare cost/schedule products for proposals or contract negotiations.
• Provide input on level of effort and consolidate input for costing.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from design drawings for multidiscipline sections.
• Prepare detailed pricing for field office non-manual labor/other direct costs and home office labor/ODCs.
• Produce capital costs estimates using a crew-based approach across multiple disciplines.
• Develop unit rates for discipline-specific items.
• Assist in developing conceptual quantities for design documents.
• Document basis and assumptions.
• Calculate fees based on established models.
• Quantify and spread escalation based on schedule and costs.
• Analyze project cash models and time value of money.
• Generate payment schedules.
• Support risk analysis and contingency efforts.
• Assist in developing staffing and pricing data for disciplines.
• Perform data analysis and identify problems.
• Identify data sources and techniques for data acquisition.
• Prepare reports and estimate summaries for reviews.
• Participate in estimate reviews and presentations as appropriate.
• Support training activities as needed.
