Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare and analyze cost estimates for design/build and GC/CM projects in the United States. You will develop scope, pricing, and bid strategies while coordinating with subcontractors and internal teams.

The role requires strong knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and software tools. Travel up to 40% is expected to support diverse projects and client needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional related experience can substitute for the degree.

Responsibilities

• Prepares design/build, engineer, construction management, guaranteed maximum price, and hard-bid estimates/proposals.
• Analyzes quotations both prior to and on bid day.
• Evaluates bids of sub-contractors and suppliers for scope, delivery time, and specs.
• Enters quantity take-offs and material unit pricings for the project.
• Recognizes and applies the appropriate WBS structure.
• Assists in defining complete project scope with limited design.
• Prepares opinions of probable construction cost estimates.
• Develops subcontractor and vendor scopes and reviews them for completeness.
• Coordinates overall corporate estimating functions.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Guides junior staff in estimating procedures and software usage.
• Manages bid day and close out activities.
• Performs additional duties as required.
