Job summary

CDM Smith in Waterbury, CT seeks an experienced estimator to prepare design/build and GMP estimates and to analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers. You will develop scopes, perform quantity takeoffs, and coordinate estimating functions across projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 8+ years of related experience
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel contingent on duties
• Equivalent additional related experience considered in lieu of a degree
• Experience with estimating techniques and cost control

Responsibilities

• Prepare design/build, engineer, CM, GMP, and hard-bid estimates/proposals.
• Analyze quotations prior to bid day.
• Evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers for scope adequacy and compliance.
• Enter quantity take-offs and material unit pricing for projects.
• Develop subcontractor and vendor scopes; review for completeness.
• Assist in coordinating overall corporate estimating functions.
• Guide junior staff in estimating procedures and software usage.
• Manage bid day and closeout activities.
