Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced estimator in the United States to prepare and analyze design/build and hard-bid estimates. You will review sub-contractor bids, manage quantity take-offs, and develop cost opinions across multiple trades. Travel is expected to support project opportunities and responsibilities.

The role requires strong estimating techniques, cost control, and proficiency with estimating software. Collaboration with subcontractors and junior staff is essential to success.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 8 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Travel 20% - 40% or more depending on duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepares design/build, engineer, construction management, guaranteed maximum price, and hard-bid estimates/proposals.
• Analyzes quotations prior to bid day.
• Evaluates bids of sub-contractors and suppliers for completeness of scope, time and specs.
• Enters quantity take-offs and material unit pricing.
• Recognizes and applies appropriate WBS structure.
• Prepares opinions of probable construction cost estimates.
• Develop subcontractor and vendor scopes and reviews them for completeness.
• Assists in coordination of overall corporate estimating functions.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Guides junior staff in estimating procedures and software usage.
• Manages bid day and closeout activities.
• Performs additional duties as required.
