Job summary

Sunrock Industries, a family-owned heavy civil contractor in Raleigh, NC, seeks a Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction efforts across North Carolina. You will prepare detailed estimates, review bid documents, and manage takeoffs, while guiding junior estimators and coordinating with project teams.

You will drive profitability and ensure smooth handoffs from estimating to operations, with travel to pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.

Qualifications

10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience.
Experience with North Carolina DOT specifications and public bid processes.
Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software (B2W, AGTEK, PlanSwift, SmartBid).
Ability to travel locally and work extended hours during critical bid periods.

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and production rates.
Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents.
Conduct quantity takeoffs using industry software.
Identify constructability risks and value engineering opportunities.
Negotiate pricing and scope adjustments.
Track and follow up on submitted proposals.
Lead project handoff meetings with project managers and field teams.
Mentor junior estimators and participate in weekly estimating meetings.
Interface with Owners, Architects, Engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
