Job summary

ENGIE North America is seeking a Power Congestion Senior Advisor to deliver market analytics for congestion trading in the ERCOT market. You will forecast nodal prices, identify constraints, and explain day-ahead and real-time congestion outcomes using production-cost, power-flow, and data-analysis tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or closely related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in wholesale electricity markets and congestion analysis.
• Strong knowledge of ERCOT transmission grid, nodal-market structure, and congestion trading fundamentals.
• Experience supporting Financial Transmission Rights, virtual markets, nodal pricing, or congestion-focused strategies.
• Experience with production-cost modeling (Dayzer, PROMOD, UPLAN) and transmission/load-flow analyses (PSSE, PowerWorld, MATPOWER).

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain production-cost models with Dayzer emphasis.
• Perform power-flow and transmission analyses using PSSE/PowerWorld/MATPOWER.
• Develop scenario studies on load, weather, fuel prices, outages, and grid topology.
• Forecast nodal price components and identify drivers of congestion.
• Create repeatable market views and node selection based on congestion forecasts.
• Support FTR auctions, virtual markets, and related products.
• Calibrate models against actual market outcomes and close gaps.
• Collaborate with traders, risk, compliance, IT and asset managers to enhance analyses.
