Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED; 1 year as Equipment Operator I or 2 years of power equipment experience; and a valid CDL with mandatory endorsements; DOT medical exam and emergency response readiness are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year as Equipment Operator I with Prince George's County Government.
• High School Diploma or GED; 2 years of experience operating light to heavy power equipment.
• A valid Class A/B CDL with mandatory endorsements is required upon appointment.
• Must successfully complete equipment/vehicle performance testing and a DOT medical exam.
• Must be willing to respond to emergency service calls on a 24-hour basis.

Responsibilities

• Operates light to heavy refuse collection equipment as assigned to support daily activities.
• Complies with motor vehicle laws, Department regulations, and safety practices.
• Maintains a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement.
• Supervises Laborer I/II assigned to the vehicle and coordinates tasks.
• Performs daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections and required maintenance checks.
• Documents pickups and communicates issues to the supervisor as needed.
