Job summary

City of Roanoke seeks a Maintenance Technician III to support a street maintenance crew handling potholes, patching, snow removal, sidewalks, and related repairs. The job requires operating a variety of heavy equipment and following safety rules.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and 3–5 years of equipment operation experience, plus a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement. Basic Work Zone Traffic Control certification and Word/Excel familiarity are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 3–5 years experience in equipment operation.
• Class B CDL with air brake endorsement required.
• Basic Work Zone Traffic Control certification preferred.
• Experience with Word and Excel is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of motorized and specialized equipment for street maintenance.
• Inspect and repair stormwater infrastructure using onboard computer systems.
• Perform journey-level trades in carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and/or welding.
• Assist with snow removal and emergency tasks, including some nights and weekends.
• Train and supervise subordinates when required.
• Maintain safety procedures and logs.
