Job summary

Jackson County, Missouri's Parks + Rec department seeks a maintenance worker to assist Foreman with project management, operate specialized equipment, and perform asset and infrastructure improvements.

Requires a High School Diploma and 3 years of related experience, plus Division-specific training. Must obtain a Class B CDL with air brakes within 6 months; Class A with air brakes and HazMat may be required. Background check and drug screen are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Three years of experience in an industry related position or craft.
• Must complete Division specific training as directed.
• Must obtain a Class B Missouri Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement within six months of hire.
• Additional qualification dependent on department needs: Class A CDL with air brake endorsement and HazMat or can obtain/retain HazMat endorsement within six months of hire, where applicable.
• Must submit to/pass background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Foreman and/or Supervisors with project management to ensure timely completion.
• Proficient in operating specialized maintenance equipment and in the use of handheld equipment, hand tools, and other power equipment.
• Perform asset and infrastructure improvements and manual labor as necessary.
