Job summary

CITY OF WICHITA is seeking a skilled worker for operating heavy equipment to maintain assets for flood control and stormwater management. The role may involve directing a small crew and requires the ability to obtain a Class B CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements within six months.

Work is performed Monday–Friday with day shifts; applicants must be able to work outdoors in varying weather and pass pre-employment screenings. The City offers comprehensive benefits and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license required; ability to obtain Class B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements within six months.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, bulldozers, scrapers, and snowplows.
• Assist with tasks involving pumps and television inspection systems.
• Clean, repair, and replace storm sewer conduits and structures.
• Perform maintenance on mechanical equipment to ensure safe operation.
• Assist supervisors with daily tasks and complete required documentation.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE at all times.
