Job summary

Rockland Trust is seeking an experienced Environmental Risk Analyst to join our risk team. You will lead environmental due diligence for commercial real estate loans and guide lenders through regulatory considerations within the loan origination process.

The ideal candidate brings deep Phase I/II expertise, strong ASTM and environmental regulation knowledge, and the ability to translate technical findings for non-technical colleagues while helping evolve our risk framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related field.
• 10+ years in environmental investigations, risk management, and loss prevention for CRE activities.
• Hands-on Phase I/II and site remediation experience.
• Knowledge of ASTM due diligence standards and US environmental regulations (CERCLA, RCRA).
• Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental due diligence reviews for commercial real estate transactions, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulations.
• Provide expert risk analysis and guidance to relationship managers, underwriters, and credit officers.
• Review Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and remediation reports for accuracy and ASTM alignment.
• Collaborate with environmental consultants, legal counsel, and borrowers to clarify issues and support deal execution.
• Maintain and enhance internal environmental risk policies and consultant lists.
• Stay current on evolving federal, state, and local environmental regulations and assess impact on real estate collateral risk.
• Support improvement of the Bank's environmental risk framework and participate in special projects led by the Environmental Risk Manager.
