Job summary

Old National Bank is seeking an Environmental Risk Specialist to support its environmental risk management program across commercial lending. The role evaluates environmental risk exposure related to real estate collateral, reviews Phase I ESAs, Phase II investigations, and remediation documentation to identify liabilities and ensure policy compliance.

The position requires collaboration with Credit Underwriting, Portfolio Management, and Legal, and supports risk mitigation throughout the credit

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Chemistry, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field required.
• 3-7+ years of relevant experience in environmental risk management, environmental consulting, commercial credit, or a related field.
• Experience reviewing Phase I and Phase II environmental reports required.
• Familiarity with ASTM environmental site assessment standards and commercial real estate transaction due diligence practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and environmental/credit tracking systems.

Responsibilities

• Environmental Due Diligence Review across Phase I and Phase II ESAs, records review, regulatory reports, and limited site investigations.
• Provide environmental risk guidance to underwriting, credit approval, and portfolio teams during origination, renewal, modification, and workout activities.
• Prepare concise environmental risk summaries and recommendations for credit files, approval memoranda, and risk committees.
• Support administration and enhancement of the bank's environmental risk management framework, including policies and due diligence standards.
• Coordinate with approved environmental consultants to obtain, review, and clarify reports.
• Provide training and guidance to credit, underwriting, lending, and portfolio teams on environmental screening and escalation protocols.
